I recently posted the theme for Magus so I decided to put Schala’s up now since they are both related. Magus AKA Janus is Schala’s brother. Schala is one of the more popular characters because she is one of the few who reluctantly fed the Mammon Machine that was draining the palace of its power. Even though her mother, the Queen of Zeal, forced her to feed the machine, Schala eventually refused but it was too late. Queen Zeal had been corrupted with the power of the machine but Schala saw through the machine’s evil grip and could no longer support her mother in using it to bring supposed prosperity to Zeal. Lavos has reawakened and will wreck havoc unless our heroes can stop it. Magus who disguised himself as a prophet returned to Zeal in 12,000 BC in hopes of destroying Lavos once reawakened from its slumber.

I definitely get the sense that composers get incredibly lazy now given they have much more sophisticated synthesizers and think, for example, they can haphazardly throw together a bunch of chants and pass it off as an epic, emotionally moving piece. Maybe it works on some people, but I’ve been turned off by almost everything to come out post 16-bit.

If I remember correctly Schala uses the time devourer to create a clone of herself in order to go back in time and “save” Serge from drowning. She does that because Serge is the one who would save her, so he must not die. Hence that’s the reason Serge has been dead in “Another world”, because Kid is unsuccessful and that’s why she exists in the parallel universe (becomes a thief).

And even that wasn’t too impressive. It’s probably better that they don’t come back and try to make a new game, now.

[..YouTube..] I think it’s because Marle was originally going to use fire magic and Lucca would use ice, and the cover was drawn at that point in development. But the cover-art was so good they decided to just keep it and hope nobody would notice.
[..YouTube..] Check out Metroid Prime’s soundtrack, and you’ll realize how wrong this is (well, for most cases at least). I don’t think it’s that they’re being rejected as much as they are going to a more of a cinematic feel in music. Anybody can make music, but one thing that 8-bit and 16-bit music requires is the ability to create a nice melody, which isn’t really required now-a-days and so it ends up being not as memorable.
