Have you ever been to a website and wanted to know what the hex value was for a certain color? You can use an application called Color Detector, which allows you to capture any hex color value and save it to your clipboard.

I found Color Detector to be useful in creating graphics or web pages. If you find a particular color that you want, you can just capture it to your clipboard and then paste it to where ever you need it.

I will show you an example of how to use Color Detector and how easy it is to use. Plus, this application is for free so there are no strings attached for trying it out.

You may have seen this logo for my Zelda game below: 

I will present you with a couple of screenshots from Color Detector, showing how it captures various colors.

If you really like that orange background that I used for the logo, click on Color Detector to make it your active application, go to the orange color with your mouse cursor and press F6 to copy that color to your clip board. The color inside Color Detector will change so that it matches what color you are about to capture.

As you can see, this orange color has a hex value of F7941D. Not only can you now use this hex color for whatever you want, but you get the exact color. There are so many colors out there (16,777,216 colors) that getting that perfect color you want can be difficult. Thanks to Color Detector, you can get that color easily and use it in your own creations.

What if you wanted that yellow color from the Triforce that Link is holding up? Again, click on Color Detector to make sure that it is your active application, go to the yellow Triforce and press F6 to copy the value into the clipboard. You should get the value shown in this next screenshot.

This time we get the value of FCD704. Now you have the exact same color of yellow as the Triforce.

That is basically it to using Color Detector. Color Detector is a free online download that can capture hex colors for you. This is such a simple and easy to use application that does not get bogged down in unnecessary features. I highly recommend this application for anyone who is into graphic design or websites.
